It is funny that it took me this long to write this post.
Let’s get into the nitty gritty1 today!
那 bored/boring、confused/confusing、disappointed/disappointing 呢?
1. sidetrack
side 旁邊,track 軌道,to sidetrack is to move away from the main subject,離開原本的主要話題,用法多元,注意字尾喔!
Don’t sidetrack (v) me from the real issue. The important thing is that we keep the children safe.
I hear you but, let’s not get too sidetracked (adj) .
He is a good interviewer because he managed to avoid being sidetracked (adj) by the guests. He stays on topic very well.
2. digress
…that’s why she left the company and left a big mess to us, but I digress. Let’s get back to the main point. ……
Anyways, I digress! Does anyone want another drink?
3. distract
He is easily distracted (adj).
Listening to music while driving is distracting (adj) to me.
Don’t distract (v) me. I’m trying to work!
This news is another attempt at distracting (v) people away from the truth.
When she is sad, she watches a comedy movie to distract (v) herself.
A stretch 🧘🏻♀️?
The ending of the movie is a stretch to me. It doesn’t make sense.
Bill simply forgot to pick up the phone. I think it is a stretch to say that he is cheating on Mary.
