【過年特輯】有效解釋巴奈家的過年習俗，讓 Mr S 愛上過年！

Happy Lunar New Year from Bannai and Mr. S! 🧧

We regret that we couldn’t visit Taiwan this year but, we like to reminiscence on our good time during last new year holidays. Every year my mother visits the temple, goes shopping and cooks for the family. My father helps clean the house, burns incense for our ancestors and visits Taitung, his hometown.

這不禁讓我想到跟S的第一個過年。所以今天我想跟大家分享的是我當初如何將習俗和傳統介紹給 Mr. S，幫助他理解並融入文化。七年下來這些習慣不但沒有淡化，反而更加深了家人之間的關係。

祭祖拜拜

My mother and I go to the temple to pray for a good year for the whole family. Back at home, we have a small altar that worships my grandparents. We burn incense and prepare offerings like fruits and rice cakes .

My father travels to Taitung, his hometown, to worship his parents and visits their altar. We do not have fancy ceremonies¹ but it is very important for us to pay respect².

以上大掃除和辦年貨兩個說法都是從美國文化（聖誕節）借過來的，文化層面相當的字！Holiday shopping is probably my favorite thing to do! Nothing screams the holidays more than³ going to a day market. I love the hustle and bustle⁴ and see people splurge on⁵ special food. The smell, noise and colors are part of the festive⁶ experience. Besides food, we also buy new spring couplets and decorations for zodiac of the year.

Spring cleaning is a hassle⁷, but you just have to do it right?

One of my favorite photos is one with my mother and Mr. S, getting scratch off tickets on the side of the road⁸ during Lunar New Year. It just feels so 台, you know what I mean 😂?

My family likes to gamble for fun during the holidays. It always gets so loud at night but that’s the way we like it. The adults play Mahjong. The cousins and kids play card games and dice games. This is the time when people try their luck, isn’t it?
