「很誇張」英文會說嗎？

原來這麼多說法 😉 exaggerate 呢？

中文的「可怕」不只 scary / scared 的意思，也有誇張的意思。

例如胃口很大，很可怕、週年慶百貨公司人潮很可怕。

誇張本身也多義，例如個性誇張（戲劇化），或是過頭（太超過）等等。

理解中文意思後，我們來看看英文可以怎麼表達 ⬇️

個性行為誇張戲劇化

用戲劇 drama (n) 這個字表達再也適合不過！

1. It is fun to talk to Eric. He has a lot of drama (n) in his life. 跟艾瑞克講話很好玩，他的生活很多戲。

2. She can be dramatic (adj) sometimes. 她這個人有時候很誇張、戲劇化

3. When you put in this way¹, it sounds very dramatic (adj). 聽你這樣說好像很誇張一樣。

4. 聰明人的說法🔥： Come on. Don’t be so melodramatic (adj). 拜託不用這麼多愁善感（小題大作、過度情緒化）

5. I’m not into this movie. I think it’s melodramatic (adj) and takes itself too seriously. 我沒很喜歡這部電影，我覺得它太情緒化也太嚴肅了。

穿著打扮、外表很誇張

1. 進階字：Michele has a flamboyant (adj) sense of style despite her age. 儘管她的年紀（大了）米雪兒的穿著風格還是很誇張。中性字眼。

2. 口語說法：Nowadays MLB baseball players like to wear loud (adj) gold chains. 現在美國棒球大聯盟球員喜歡穿戴很誇張的金項鍊。偏負面的字眼。（This is true! Have you noticed it? 😂）

💡 加碼：引人注目的 eye catching adj. 也是個好字！例如：Her purple hair is very eye catching among the crowds. 在眾人之中她的紫色頭髮特別顯眼。

程度上太超過

too over？絕對不是🙅🏻‍♀️。

1. 🔥 口語最常見：I can’t believe he is sentenced to life in prison. That’s too much. 我無法相信他居然被判無期徒刑，太誇張（超過）了。

2. I think the decorations are a little over the top. 我覺得那些裝飾有點過頭了。（too extreme and not appropriate 太極端不適合）

3. 網路用法將 over the top 縮寫為 OTT：His speech is OTT. I don’t think AI is the future. 他的演講太誇張了，我不認為人工智慧在未來很重要。

4. The special effects in Fast and Furious is overkill (adj). 玩命關頭的特效太誇張、太不必要了。

5. Using 3 sticks² of butter to make steak is overkill. 做牛排用三條牛油也太誇張了。

6. You don’t have to go overboard with the gifts. Just bring a bottle of wine. 送禮物不用太誇張，帶一瓶酒就好了。

7. We only have 4 people. Don’t go overboard with the food. 我們只有四個人，食物不用太多。

Exaggerate?

這個動詞其實沒有錯！但通常是言過其實、放大、浮誇地說某事情。注意通常後面會特地說明將「什麼東西」誇張化了。

1. He exaggerated the importance of AI. 他將人工智慧的重要性誇張化了。

2. The movie exaggerates the difficulties she faces in childhood. 這部電影放大了她在童年時期遇到的困難。

3. My mom exaggerated the danger of taking a plane. It is actually safer than driving. 我媽媽誇大了搭飛機的危險性，實際上比開車更安全。

4. My coworker exaggerated the demands of our manager. It's not that bad. 我同事誇大了經理的要求，其實沒那麼可怕。
